Nestled amongst the banyan trees, shaded and secluded, the Javvu Spa at Amilla Fushi is cool and contemporary, warm and welcoming. There are 10 large wooden double treatment pods, all decked out with either a sauna or a steam room, plus there is a relaxing tea lounge and a reception area. They have the BEST therapists from Morocco to Bali, and the best home-grown Maldivian talent. The South African Spa manager Lisa Jody Manser comes with a wealth of experience and expertise, and is scrupulous in her training to ensure Amilla Fushi’s high standards are achieved.
It’s rare to find a seriously good Spa in the perfect beach resort, so the question is do you come alone and pamper yourself to oblivion, or do you combine it with your family holiday and make full use of a stellar children and teens club, with babysitting on tap. Either way, this is paradise – everywhere you turn you will be mesmerized by the turquoise sea and perfect white powder beaches. You will lose all sense of time at this relaxed and cosseting island haven. At the Spa, in the protective shade of the trees, you can rejuvenate your jaded body and spirit and zap negative energy with knock-out holistic rituals by organic brand ILA-SPA, and you can have hard-hitting, skin problem-solving facials from the professionals at QMS, chosen for their intelligent approach to skincare. Massages are by Pure massage from the London-based massage expert Aleksandrowicz. There are manicures and pedicures by the world-class podiatrist Margaret Dabbs, offering first class sole and hand therapy, or you can have your hair coiffured by Louise Galvin-trained hairdressers, who use silicone and other nasties-free shampoo and conditioners. And for the men - there is a barber by Gentleman’s tonic for the perfect male grooming. We have all heard the horror stories of the costs of Spa treatments in the Maldives - one Spa charges $400 for a massage - so to have a 50 minute treatment included in your nightly rate is a real gift; you have the freedom to choose from any of the above options, so you can have a different treatment everyday of your stay, it’s your choice. You can cleverly do add-ons, an extra 15 minutes on your shoulders, or extend for another hour – so if you are a real Spa junkie, the options are endless.
There are group Yoga and mediation classes starting shortly, and personal training at their state-of-the-art fitness centre. I have tested this Spa to the limit and was blown away by the magic hands of their therapists. QMS is my choice in the UK for my facials, so to have it when I was away was a total treat.
The Javvu spa at Amilla Fushi takes a unique approach to their treatment menu - you choose from Mains, Sides and A La Carte. The Mains are treatments that are included in your stay from which you can choose one a day, Sides are essentially 'top-ups' to the Mains for either a longer or more varied treatment and the A La Carte treatments are full-length options not included in your stay. This system is applied to all sections/products in the spa menu - meaning you can even have your hair washed and blow-dried as part of your stay.
The products have been specially selected to ensure the best quality: body treatments by ila, massages by Pure Massage, facials by QMS, hair by Louise Galvin, nails by Margaret Dabbs and a barber by Gentlemens Tonic make for a truly unique and wide-reaching spa experience in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

The transfer we booked via Healing Holidays on the arrival pick up was great, again very pleasant and no problems however on the return we decided to cancel direct with the company as we no longer needed it. We didn't want a refund just called the gentleman to say we didn't want it, on the phone call he was rude, aggressive and refused to cancel still showing up at 2:55am in the hotel lobby in the morning making trouble with the reception staff. Terrible transfer company!!"
