Post Wellness Retreat: 10 Tips on How to Keep the Good Work Going at Home

  1. De-clutter your kitchen cupboards and get ready to stock up on nuts, seeds, healthy snacks (eg. oatcakes, almond butter), wholewheat pasta, pulses, brown rice and porridge.
  2. Invest in some healthy eating cookbooks.
  3. Create an on-line healthy shopping list with your nearest supermarket.
  4. If you want even more support back home book to see a nutritionist who can help you implement what you have learnt abroad into your every day home life.
  5. Think about how to make exercise work for you.
  6. Do you want to join a gym? Grab some work out DVDs or find a personal yoga teacher or trainer – think about your finances and your lifestyle and be realistic about what will suit you (don’t vow to go running every day, stick to three times a week to begin with). It doesn’t take long before something becomes part of your routine – try not to give yourself easy excuses.
  7. Relaxation is as important as exercise.
  8. Make your bathroom a sanctuary. Treat yourself to some new bath time goodies and try to go to bed, or at least start retreating, at least an hour before you actually want to go to sleep.
  9. Keep a notebook by your bed so you can jot down anything that helps to clear your mind.
  10. Don’t install too many deprivation rules – living your life joyfully is also important – but if you are good for most of the time, you can justify occasionally veering off track without feeling guilty – and that’s definitely got be worth it.
